Overview of ArcGIS Network Analyst

ArcGIS Network Analyst enables ArcGIS users to solve a variety of routing and network problems. Tasks such as finding the most efficient travel route, generating travel directions, finding the closest facility, or defining service areas based on travel time have become greatly simplified. The core functionality of the extension lies in the new network dataset. The network dataset includes the ability to create true multimodal networks.

This workshop will outline the tools and functionality of the Network Analyst extension and go through several routing, delivery, and service area solutions.  The workshop will also cove the basic principles behind building and using network datasets.

Automating Workflow with ModelBuilder and Python

ArcGIS 9 includes several new tools to help automate complex tasks and analysis procedures.  Models are data flow diagrams that link together a series of tools and data to create advanced procedures and work flows.  Python is an open source scripting language that can be used to construct complex geoprocessing scripts.  This workshop will cover the fundamentals of using each tool to create custom procedures to automate your geoprocessing workflow and increase efficiency.

ArcSDE Tips and Tricks

SDE Tips and Tricks covers best practices for administering your SDE Database - from loading and managing data, configuring users, and security.  This presentation also addresses the basics of the Geodatabase, tuning SDE for better performance, and version management.

Customizing ArcGIS Desktop

ArcGIS provides the ability to customize desktop applications to better fit an individual user or group’s specific needs.  This includes the ability to simply modify existing toolbars and tools to creating and embedding custom tools and forms.  This workshop will cover the basics of using ArcObjects and VBA to create custom tools and desktop layouts.

Smart Editing Techniques

Learn about different methods to effectively enter and maintain vector data in a geodatabase. This workshop addresses editing workflow and topology, basic version management, preparing the editing environment, and entering and adjusting data from various data sources.
