ESRI Training Classses
What’s New in ArcGIS 9

Overview:

Unwrap the new functionality available in ArcGIS 9 including the new geoprocessing environment, enhancements to the geodatabase, and the new functionality found in various ArcGIS software extensions. The first half of this course focuses on the geoprocessing environment and the hundreds of new tools available to users. Participants learn how to access these tools in a variety of ways such as through models, scripts, and a new command line environment. Enhancements to the geodatabase, such as XML import/export and the ability to store raster data, are discussed. The ArcGIS 3D Analyst and Maplex for ArcGIS extensions, showcasing the new three-dimensional symbols and ArcGlobe and labeling enhancements, are also discussed.

Prerequisites:

Participants should have taken Introduction to ArcGIS I and Introduction to ArcGIS II (for ArcView 8, ArcEditor 8, and ArcInfo 8), What's New in ArcInfo 8.3, or have equivalent knowledge. Some programming experience for scripting is an asset, but not necessary.

2 day class, Sept 24 – 25, 2005. 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Regular price: $1,275/student Pre-registration required. Special pre conference rate: $500/student.

Creating and Editing Parcels using ARCGIS

Learn how to effectively enter cadastral data into your geodatabase. This course addresses displaying and symbolizing parcel data; preparing the editing environment; creating and adjusting tax map annotation; and entering and adjusting parcels from various sources. Data sources include deeds, plats, CAD files, and shapefiles. Participants will practice entering subdivisions into an existing parcel fabric.

Prerequisites:

Prior knowledge of the geodatabase is not required; however, participants should complete Introduction to ArcGIS I (for ArcView 8, ArcEditor 8, and ArcInfo 8), or What's New in ArcInfo 8 (previously offered instructor-led course or currently available Web-based course), or have equivalent knowledge. Participants should also be familiar with tax mapping terminology and practices.

2 day class, Sept 24 – 25, 2005. 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Regular price: $850/student Pre-registration required. Special pre conference rate: $500/student.

Introduction to Geoprocessing Scripts using Python

One of the aspects of the ArcGIS 9 geoprocessing framework is the scripting environment. In this two-day class, students will learn about the Python scripting language and how it can be used to access the geoprocessing functionality in ArcGIS 9. Participants begin the course by understanding Python scripting syntax; progress to writing scripts for geoprocessing operations; and finish by incorporating Python scripts as tools in ArcToolbox. Scripting is easy to learn, so introductory-level programmers are welcome. However, some knowledge of fundamental programming techniques, such as loops and conditional statements, is required.

Prerequisites:

Participants should have taken Introduction to ArcGIS I or have equivalent knowledge. Some basic programming skills are recommended.

2 day class, Sept 24 – 25, 2005. 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Regular price: $850/student Pre-registration required. Special pre conference rate: $500/student.
