  • Interactive or Online Map/GIS service
Judgement and Awards

There will be (2) awards for each category:

Judging Criteria:
Each category will be judged on the basis of visual quality and technical or scientific merit.
Criteria include quality of the following elements
  • Abstract – the poster/map should be succinctly and clearly described.
  • Geographic Content and Analysis – the information should be presented logically.
  • Graphics – Participants are encouraged to use maps, diagrams, graphs, photos, and other graphic elements that catch the reader’s eye and generate discussion. Elements not created by the author of the poster should have their sources clearly cited in the poster.
  • Overall design and presentation– judges will be looking for a balance between text and graphic content, in short – aesthetically appealing. Textual material should be confined to brief statements and should be of a font size large enough to read at least THREE FEET AWAY. (The judges may combine categories or reduce the number of prizes if fewer than three quality entries are received in any category.)
Note: Factors may be weighted differently in each category. The judges may combine categories or reduce the number of prizes if fewer than three quality entries are received in any category.
